Selmer Mark VI Tenor #115xxx
Looking for a five-digit Mark VI but don’t want to shell out the five-digit money? If so, you should give this horn some serious consideration. The 115xxx serial range has many of the characteristics of the 90xxx and are available at a cheaper price. This horn has some serious punch and a nice, warm sound. There is also just enough resistance that you can push this horn but at the same time whisper. This is what makes the Mark VI such a dynamic and sought-after model of saxophone.
Physically speaking, this horn displays very nicely. It still has a majority of its original lacquer, which has matured into a very eye-pleasing dark, honey color and beautiful American, floral-style engraving. This horn was just rebuilt with brass domed resonators and Pisoni Pro pads. There are a few solder joints, most notably on the low C key guard, but nothing major that detracts from the overall appearance. There was also a bend in the bell flair that has been removed. The matching neck was also slightly pulled down but was corrected during the overhaul.
This horn is a great opportunity for the serious saxophonist to bring their playing to the next level. The fact that this horn just underwent a fresh rebuild here at the shop will ensure many years of enjoyable playing for whoever decides to purchase this axe! This horn has the original Selmer Tri-Pack style case but you can upgrade to a new model case if you desire.
