This is a King Zephyr tenor saxophone from 1948. This horn is in fantastic condition given its age and has 95+% original lacquer. Over time this Zephyr’s lacquer has developed a dark honey colored patina. This horn also features a custom neck modification in which Aaron Barnard replaced the original octave key mechanism with an underslung King Super 20 octave mechanism.
This horn is of a great vintage and is very free blowing. This horn is currently playing great on an older Aaron Barnard pad job. It features Prestini Pro pads and flat nickel Reso-Tech resonators. This horn is a great value because it offers the sound and feel of a $5000 or more dollar horn at a fraction of the price. King case is included.
