Just in the shop is a Selmer 9 Star Clarinet. This clarinet is in great physical condition. There are no signs of cracks or any major damage. The pads are not new, but there is little time spent playing on them. It is very quick responding in all registers and has a very big, sweet sound. There is a lot of life left in the horn before an overhaul is needed.
The 9 Star had a change in design from the previous Series 9. The 9 Star was designed with a reverse tapered bore, similar to the early Buffet R13’s. This was a change from the Series 9, which had a large, cylindrical bore with large tone holes and chimneys.
