Here is a very well-played Pan-American low Bb Bari. This horn was produced at the Conn factory in Elkhart, IN and is a Conn stencil, making this essentially a “Poor Man’s 12M.”
This particular horn has seen a lot of use. There are a handful of solder repairs, dent work and lacquer loss. This horn also has an aftermarket 3 ring neck strap hook as well as a modern, replica neck. Refer to the photos for closer inspection of the above mentioned.
With that stated, this horn is a very nice playing bari that produces a fat, robust and old-school bari sound. It underwent some adjustments and tweaks here in the shop and is playing on fairly new pads with brass resonators. This will be a great horn for the serious player that’s looking for a Conn 12M but wants to save some money. It’s also ideal for anyone that wants a bari that they can take out and play without worrying about damaging a museum-quality horn.
