The Super 20 Silver Sonic alto needs no introduction. Cannonball Adderley took care of that. This Series IV model was made in Cleveland and is in very nice condition. I’d rate it at 92% cosmetically and 100% from a performance place. I rebuilt this alto a year or two ago but it has hardly any playing time on it. It has a great tone with no issues from low end all the way to altissimo! Pisoni Pro pads and reusable, domed brass resonators help make it big, bold and bright yet is still has beyond plenty of body. The perfect lead alto.
This horn was made around 1966-67 and has the single-socket neck – which some Silver Sonic players prefer. The numbers match. The lacquer is original. The engraving is gorgeous. And the bell and neck are made of Sterling silver. Doesn’t need to get a whole lot better. It comes with its original case in very nice condition. Perfect for the player or the collector.
